Christmas Decorations

November 17, 2010

About to Have First time Xmas on Our new Home.

My most favorite time of the year is just around the corner, too bad with a lot of things in my hand I cannot  decorate fully our home for the holidays. Second reason, with one day off in a week, oftentimes I stayed in our bedroom/or hanging around the markets/mall with my two cute toddlers spending quality times with them. Third reason, there’s this old saying in our place that “A Carpenter has a broken house.” Usually at the office I am the one in charge of Christmas decorations, once I reached home I feel exhausted on doing the same thing.

Finally Home was decorated.

I was too grateful that it was holiday yesterday and I was able to decorate, but it was just a small portion of the house, but it was nice anyway.

Here’s A tip. We know some of the christmas balls easily come off  on its holder;

All it needs is a hot glue gun

Just apply a hot glue on the top,

and seal the holder again on its christmas ball. It’s done!

Now you can stop worrying that it will fall off when it is hanging.

Home Decorating

November 11, 2010

I never thought home decorating is so difficult and mind confusing. I usually finds a way things makes easy, organize and artistic, not until today, I realize my talent is highly challenge of our new house.  Months of furniture canvassing, internet browsing, magazine checking but still I don’t have a concrete idea as to how would be the final look of our house.

All bedrooms are almost empty; living room with a set of sofa still on its factory plastic, kitchen is still bare except for a few cook wares, kitchen utensils, refrigerator, ceramic stove and cutlery. I don’t have the proper dining tables and chairs yet. Curtains are on the cabinets and all windows and sliding doors are waiting to be covered. Unpacked cartons are on the basement.

I was thinking of a color scheme but then I would also like to apply a color contrast on the curtains and furniture since all walls are completely painted by yellow gold color. I am currently torn between on either I would opt to contemporary or on semi modern interior design.

Sometimes it causes so much headache plus the fact I only have little time to attend things at home, I have other things that I am taking care of such as my two toddlers and my work, my only consolation is my hubby   my personal support and comfort.

I find my confidante (which is myself) again and she said “Take things one step at a time.”….

CEBU ads

August 19, 2010

Nowadays I am into “looking for furniture” either it’s brand new or second hand for our new house. I would like to give certain degree of credits on the sites that I commonly visit to check out new selling/offering products posted by certain individuals or company. Although I’ve been visiting a lot of website lately, I’ll just emphasize the top three, I may say.

Basically it caters for Cebuanos. It’s so simple to register, the site has established intensive classifications for classifieds ads, there’s no fancy stuff (i.e. flashy headings) I can say that this site is straight to the point, one will never be lost, it’s easy to browse to the items/product that you are looking for.

*I sold my car thru classifiedads  last February.Thank you very much.

Ayosdito.ph (ok here), is also a free online classified ads which provides service mainly to all over  Philippines. They explains everything in three words, EASY SIMPLE AND FREE. It plunged to the net last March 2009. I first learned this through Cebuclassifieds.com, they were advertising with their noticeable logo.

It’s so easy to navigate, they use Philippines’ map strategically for browsing the ads. You don’t have to undergo hassles in registering; registration is essentially included on post an ad process. You can post right away, but one thing I notices when I posted my ad it’s a No No to include web site address on posting.

The ff. message will appear after you are done with posting an ad;

E-mail Verification

An e-mail has been sent to you. Please click on the link in the e-mail to verify the ad.

Good to know:

  • You must verify the ad within 48 hours.
  • If you still haven’t received the verification e-mail within 2 hours you may have entered
an invalid e-mail address. You should also check whether the e-mail has been caught by
    your spam-filter.
  • The ad will be reviewed according to the rules of AyosDito and will normally be published
within three hours. Ads that are inserted in the evening will be reviewed next morning.
  • You will get the option to make changes to the ad if it is rejected.

Buy / Sell / Trade / Classifieds – ISTORYA.NET- Is within the website forum of ISTORYA.NET, one of the biggest online community of Cebu that I’ve known. Unlike cebuclassifieds and ayosdito.ph buy and sell in istorya.net sets rules before posting/starting a thread. I usually visits this site due to practically it is also one of the easiest ground where the buyer and  seller meet.

Too much consideration towards the feelings of others sometimes causes extreme stress.  Choosing between right and wrong is difficult as we grew older.

Seafoods, Manna Sutukil Cebu

April 14, 2010

 Yum yum yum

The other day we went to Manna Sutukil (sutukil is a Cebuano term stands for sugba (fish cook in charcoal) , tuwa(shells or fish cook in boiling water with tomatoes, onions and seasonings , kilaw (fresh fish, squid or shrimp added with vinegar seasonings, onions, tomatoes, ginger).

I have no idea where did they get the name of their restaurant, I am thinking that maybe they get it from the word Manna or Mana in the Bible, the food that was eaten by the Israelites during their journey in the desert.

Anyway, if it’s your first time to go there, expect that there are wide varieties of sea foods that you can choose. The prices are usually in per kilo, and that includes the way you want it to be cook, for example crabs are P280.00/kilo and you may request it to be steamed. For shrimps you may choose to cook it with garlic or hot chili sauce. Shells are usually cook for Tuwa or cook dry with butter. They also offer different kind of shakes (mango, pineapple) for P65.00, or you may opt for fresh buko juice.

We occupied the tables on the second floor, though they have also air conditioned room in the first floor, we still go for the fresh air,  Manna is by the way located near the sea. The restaurant is near the Lapu-lapu shrine and it was the same area where Magellan and Lapu-lapu fought dtd April 1521.

learning to let go

February 3, 2010

Finally after almost five months looking for a buyer for Bob (our honda car) , eventually we already found a serious buyer and today is the day that I have to turn over it to the new owner. Thu hubby and I agreed to sell it, ( for practical reasons,)  but still I was the one who usually use it, and somehow it was attached to me, now it’s the time to let it go somehow I am deeply sad and emotional. I remembered the days that we travelled it with my babies. Hayyyyy….

Bye Bob I will miss you!

Changes

December 3, 2009

I went to one of my favorite supermarket last night to buy supplies for my son and daughter. I was in a hurry, I had only one hour to do it because I still have to report to the office afterwards. I noticed the rearrangement they made on their displayed products. It has been months as I remembered when they started their store renovations. It used to be so easy to pick up everything I needed when I have my time in shopping, but last night I was totally annoyed when I kept on back and forth looking for the items that I need for I was no longer familiar with the arrangement that they have. They changed everything from the kitchen utensils, babies stuff, can goods, chilled or frozen goods, toiletries, to holiday’s promo packs.

I just told myself that changes is constant in life,  and it will come to a stage that it is very difficult sometimes to welcome it and accept it. Sometimes it will take a while to adjust and be comfortable about it. There will be rough roads in accepting changes, but along the way I learned to receive unwelcome emotions. There will be struggles, there will be a tendency to dwell in the past denying oneself and hardly move on.

S. gately

October 12, 2009

I was about to go to the boarding gate wherein our passengers were waiting for 10:00 o’clock departure time bound for Manila, when something caught my interest . It was there on a big flat screen. It was news that shocked me, more than the big blow he made ten years ago when he announced that he is gay. He was Stephen Gately,  a member of boy band Boyzone. It was the band that I grew up with, their songs were mostly love songs. I remembered every album that they released I had to squeeze my allowance just to have a copy. I even persuaded my mother to buy me jumper causing Php700.00 in Penshoppe (which was the main sponsor of their concert) just to avail the free ticket of their concert held in Cebu.  Only to be disappointed because some members of the band was not that as friendly as I expected .

Anyways I will always remember  S. Gately ‘s as the darling of Boyzone and his beautiful wide smile.

Stephen Gately my most favorite band member of boyzone.

it’s painful to be a mom

August 26, 2009

We went to the hospital las week to visit our colleagues’ daughters (that’s right daughters not daughter), they were a victim of vehicular accident. Their ages are eight and two years old. It was a painful site seeing their young bodies enduring the pain, the two years old was coughing every now and then, they said it’s because of she was been lying longer, her half body is covered ( from her waist to her neck, including the arms) were in cast, also because of the her broken arms the doctors placed brace it in order for her to lift her arms all the time (they said that she we will be like that for a month), some part of her face had stitches and bruises. The other one is still in ICU, her right arm is still paralyzed, and her vision is blur.

My mind involuntarily thinks of my daughter and my son, I don’t know what will I do if something bad happen to them, I don’t know if I can face and withstand with courage.

Sometimes it is painful to be a mother.

(30th) Kadaugan sa Mactan Festival

April 29, 2009

We went to Mactan Shrine yesterday, it was the day after the festival.

Every year of 27th of April the people of Lapu-lapu re-enact the battle between Lapu-lapu and conquistador Magellan.

This year it was Joko Diaz played the role of Lapu-lapu, Gino Padilla as Magellan and Maureen Larrazabal as the wife of Lapu-lapu (chieftains wife) Bulakna.

The actual shore were Lapu-lapu and Magellan fought.

Wearing my baby

April 23, 2009

It was a yeheyy moment, finally I had with me the baby sling that I purchased last week from the net. I practised how to wear it with my daughter and she can’t get enough of it. It was a very enjoyable moment with us when we tried it on, if only my tummy is not that big I would gladly tried all the positions in wearing the sling with my toddler. I almost lost my breath for she’s weighing 16 kilos now.

The advantages in using this baby sling that attract me most are, it promotes bonding between mother/father and baby, it is convenient to bring along rather than carrying the bulky stroller and there is a privacy when nursing a baby.

My daughter and I really had a good laughed when we imitated  this video.

Go gaga Over Lady Gaga

March 18, 2009

I am currently gaga over with Lady Gaga, her music is great,  when I first heard her song it was an instant hit for me. Why? Because the beating was so familiar, it sounds 1980s with a twist of modern style and all in all her songs are totally  pop.(By the way one of my favorite music genre is New Wave).

Some says her attire is outrageous, a freakish combination of style but still I like it. The way she dres up is very familiar it reminded one of my favourite cartoon show the “Jem and the Holograms” during 1985 to 1986, I am specifically referring to the villains of the show which they called themselves the “Misfits”. Their hair, their make up, the attitude in the stage I don’t know, in my personal opinion somehow they are so much alike.

The most important is …definitely Lady Gaga reminds me of the music, the fashion and shows that I grew up with.

“My favorite tracks are Just Dance and Poker Face.”

From Poker Face lyrics

Can’t read my,
Can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(She’s got to love nobody)
Can’t read my
Can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(She’s got to love nobody)

Hoping for the best

March 17, 2009

“Placenta previa totalis” words that I am not familiar about until my second pregnancy. I was on my 4th month when I decided to have my ultrasound, I was very confident that there will be no problem considering I didn’t had the hard time during my first pregnancy. My OB explained to me that my placenta covers my cervix/ lying low in my uterus, in normal case placenta is located at the top of the uterus. The worst thing is it can cause to bleeding and other complications specially on the later part of pregnancy. But the good thing is (though not 100% sure that will happen) my placenta might migrate and POSSIBLY place on its normal position which is near the top of the uterus.

For now, I am having more than two months bed rest (salamat sa aking Boss); I am not allowed to drive, not allowed to lift heavy things either and sex is forbidden (good thing wala si hubby dito) .

I tried not to stress myself, and constantly motivating myself into positive side for my baby and for my family. But sometimes I cannot avoid worrying thinking that I might have c-section. I am praying that everything will be alright specially for my baby… hoping for the best.

Oh holy night, the star is…

November 20, 2008

Finally after a month of laziness and buzzzzinesss (sleeping and working) I have the time to post again.

Parol Making Contest

We came up with a decision in order to promote camaraderie among our peers, to shows talent, creativity and unity we decided to have a PAROL MAKING CONTEST and to be announce who will win during our company Christmas party. Personally I was in doubt that all will participate, but I was amiss with my judgement. Despite of our respective jobs /responsibility in the company everybody has allotted time to make there group parol/lantern, with a very optimistic mood that they will win. Even I, with a little concern before about the activity has become more sincere and concerted among my group.

We decided to use mahogany for our materials. Ahe salamat kina Tatay and Nanay for providing us the Mahogany fruit.

Admin. Team hope for the best! Go go Php10,000

What is your first reaction?

October 9, 2008

What’s in your mind after reading this?

Tell me.

Just curious.

FLU.

I have a very persistent flu started the other day, I tried not to give it some importance, I took couple of glasses of water (sated with uneasiness) trying to drive it away. I even reported to work today to prove that it’s not a serious one, I don’t want to stay in bed and nurture the virus, but then erred decision, I feel a little cold, I know fever is coming. The flu virusis becoming strong, I should have stayed in bed and rest.

Right now? I really wanted to crawl in bed and wear my pajama, I really have to go home.

Ang Talaba (oysters) Bow

September 2, 2008

Place: Tayud Consolacion, Cebu

Date: August 31, 2008

Goal: To buy 20 kilos of Talaba

It was tedious afternoon when my husband and I decided to put some color of adventure for our day, we decided to buy some oyster and to be eaten during sunday-get-together-snack. It was not my first time to go there, whenever we crave for talaba (yes i.e. oyster) we instantly go to ‘Lacion or Liloan Market to buy some. Before it cost 30/kilo but now due to inflation/gasoline (I don’t know if they only make the gasoline an excuse to increase their price), it cost 35/kilo.

I was sad when I learned that due to pollution and environmental conditions the Talaba farm in ‘Lacion cannot produce their own talaba , alternatively they have to get their supplies from neighbouring province like Negros. Every two weeks or so they have to transport  thirty (30) bags of oyster and have it place on their own pond in order to live.

It is a very unpleasant  fact that the place who used to develop and produce this delectable food are crippled by the human abuse of the environment.

Cebu,Mactan Resorts

August 9, 2008

I cannot quite imagine what I experienced today, we had an errand courtesy of our boss, to find and book  his special someone (his family member not the other way you are thinking).  It resulted to resort slash hotel hopping galore.  First we went to Plantation Bay, we already made a reservation for August 12 through telephone,  we went there to pay  our reservation but unfortunately our reservation was not honoured, we don’t know what went wrong. So we where force to find another one. I’d been living in Cebu for thirteen long years and specifically working in Lapu-lapu for almost six years but only this day I discovered how beautiful  Cebu is (really really!).

We went to Plantation bay, then to Costabella Hotel, Blue water ,then to Shangri La Hotel/resort/, to White Sands then back to Shangri la. Wait, did I mention we went to Jollibee? Just imagine how exhausted we were at the end of the day, the good news is I was not wearing my high heels shoes, but Wella did (tsk tsk). One of the thing Wella and I noticed foreigners from Korea dominate among the tourists.

here are the sites, thu I took some pictures, there resorts are best presented, where else–> but in their web sites

Look Mom Cotton Ball

August 8, 2008

I was cleaning my face with small amount of cleanser in a cotton ball, when I noticed my daughter got her own cotton ball and rubbed it in her face the way I did. I certainly laughed watching her imitating my actions.  She’s only 1 year old, 5 months and 17 days but she can make everybody laugh, she’s truly the darling at home, and with my husband’s entire family and relatives she surely know how to entertain them. There were times that we had a visitors she immediately flashed her warm smile. It is true that you will never fully appreciate motherhood until you have child of your own.

Look Mom, I can do it!

I remembered the day it was April 26 this year when she learned to walk properly… I nearly cried, though it was hard for her to take two steps (for they say she’s a little bit bigger in her own age, thanks to Dad’s genes!) she really tried. After one step she swayed a little, then took another steps until she made it.  My heart was pounding ,I hugged her, when I saw that she was frightened a little.

As the days passed she tried it again, I know how ordinary this things are at her stage but  it was so special to me,  of course because she’s my own daughter. I am one happy mommy.

A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart.

Twilight

August 6, 2008

Finally I got my own copies (clap clap), after months of waiting National bookstore  Ayala branch called  informing that the book I reserved is already available. It was months ago that I learned about this novel, I was searching for a book to read when I stumbled upon to a certian internet forum discussing that what would be the perfect book to read, some  recommended this book. I was surprised actually by the numbers of people who urged to read this novel. I even tried to search this books in ebay but unluckily the price is pretty higher compared to bookstore considering I have also to pay the freight.

You might be intrigued what this books all about. Just refer to Kumareng Wikipedia –> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight_(novel)

Havaianas Flip flip flop!

This Brazillian rubber took the world with storm. It is very comfortable and durable, I had my first Havi last year and it is always suitable whenever I wear my jeans, skirts or in dress. We were so lucky that we have our direct supplier (hehe)  of these unique branded flip flop.

But of course I also love our very own spartan.

Reminds me

July 28, 2008

A phrase that  keeps nagging in my head, I was on my way for work, when I felt a sudden feeling that I can’t explain. Then I realize I miss God, maybe because I failed to visit Him in His house yesterday (Sunday). When I was about to enter our office I saw the red gumamelas… lots of it.  Once more the phrase in my head, it keeps on recurring. I can’t remember where did I got it and what are the exact words, but am sure it was on my high school days when I learned about it. I remember St. Francis of Assisi, oh yes St. Francis he loves animals and environment may be I acquired it from one of our lessons with regards to his life. Am sure this is not the exact words but I hope it is close enough to the intended meaning of it;

God

Let the flowers

Blooms

For He knows

You will pass

on the

Same path

I tried to search it thru the net but this is the only thing that close to what I mean that I found http://home.earthlink.net/~susan926/letter.htm.

Online shops

July 26, 2008

I was looking for the novel Twilight by Stephenie Meyer for I hadn’t found it in any local bookshops, out of eagerness to get a copy I decided to check it out on e-bay. It was my first time experience on checking an item and not only I found the book that am looking for I discovered also the different shops /online stores selling almost everything, they are  trading from second hands to brand new stuffs. It was really convenient some of the books that I was looking for a long time they were right there cheaper than the ordinary price! Imagine my surprise and I was really thrilled. From then on, I checked every stores/shops online for what’s new, and anything that might interest me or catch my eye.

I would not blame peeps who were addicted on online shopping, because of its convenience. The first time that I purchased I was having some doubts, you know like…What if after I send the payment she/he would not send the items that I purchased? What if she/he dutifully send the items but was lost by the carrier?

It was then that I learned that before purchasing anything, it is a must to check first the site, if she/he has  lots of positive  feedback/reviews from previous buyer then she/he is a trustworthy seller.

Here are some of the things that I bought online.

ukay-ukay , dig it!

July 23, 2008

Okay, you are disgusted and might be the type of person who cannot even imagine wearing second hand clothes (except if it’s came from your older sister/brother), you are thinking that the previous owner might have dreadful disease or worst dead. But for me, I don’t have any problem with that. I and my officemates sometimes go to Mandaue just to have ukay-ukay. I don’t know, sometimes I found it more enjoyable than shopping in malls, because there’s the sense of adventure you never know what you get or find.

Dresses that are so stylish, items that you can find that are so much a like in malls but the quality is much nicer and in a very very low price. I remember my first ukay-ukay is a black shirt with blue whale design,it was bought by my mother and it became one of my fav shirt for it was made of cotton and it was very comfortable to wear.

Actually this very year that I started buying my own ukay-ukay clothes, we have a “suki” which is more like an ukay-ukay boutique all items are place in a nice racks with hangers and the place is air-conditioned, compared to the normal ukay-ukay stall in which the clothes are creased piled haggling is not allowed specially the sign in there door says NEW ARRIVAL.

Way back years ago mostly were too embarrassed to admit that they were wearing ukay-ukay. I recalled there was a commercial for laundry soap that made the famous quote “made in UK” referring that she bought her dress from ukay-ukay. In present, ukay-ukay gone far, I noticed even in bangketa, in cart, boutique, even here in the internet like multiply, istorya.net, and cebuclassifieds invaded  it.

A   cotton shirt got this from ukay-ukay!

Nice!

FOOD you eat

July 19, 2008

Betty’s Bakeshop Lasagna (Php 60.00)

I don’t know what got in to me and my officemate Didith we were became addict in eating lasagna, not just any lasagna but the lasagna in Betty’s Bakeshop! If there’s a time for us to visit BB we would. We tried different establishment looking and desiring to discover a better one but  to no avail we haven’t found.

According to Kumareng Wikipedia Lasagna (singular, pronounced [laˈzaɲa] in Italian; plural lasagne pronounced [laˈzaɲe]) is both a form of pasta in sheets (sometimes rippled, though seldom so in Italy)…

Everywhere I go there’s a food!

From simple bangketa(street side), to canteen to malls to splendid restaurant. In general we Filipinos love to eat, as for Cebuanos they can’t get enough of Barbecues (chicken, chicken feet, adidas, walkman(pig ears),betamax (chicken blood), IUD (not the contraception, it’s a chicken instestine! yes I know your imagination is working) and helmet (chicken’s head) funny even in food’s name we Pinoy are very creative.

By the way, one of my favorite food street is Tempura and fish ball,  yum yum yum delisyoso, I simply can’t get enough of them.

 Lasagna in BB

There are some variety of Pinoys’  food that I posted years ago in here; http://www.geocities.com/rpmirc/interest.htm.

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity.  ~Voltaire

Hello Starshine!

July 18, 2008

I really feel good this morning. There’s this words that automatically echoes in my head  good morning starshine, the earth says hello  (from the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). It is always useful to start your day with positive mindset.

 FYI, “good morning starshine, the earth says hello” is also cited from the song Good Morning Starshine by Hair. The beginning of the song  is enough to brigthen the day;

Good morning starshine, the earth says hello You twinkle above us, we twinkle below Good morning starshine, you lead us along
My love and me
As we sing our
Early morning singing song

During rush hour. Try to stop and appreciate God’s creation.

So far so good

July 17, 2008

No greater power than HIM

I must say that this is a wonderful day for me. Sincerely, I always ask the Lord to guide me and my family in every decision that we have to decide. Last night I was praying in heartfelt manner  asking for guidance, to the extent that I was asking for a sign and I was really astonished that He did actually gave me that sign beyond my expectation this morning

 Him and Her

I had unexpected visitor this afternoon, a friend of one of my officemate actually, she was  thwarted over to the actions commited of her husband last night. Yes I can hear the song  Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love keep bleeding.. Though she was really angry I can still feel that she loves her husband.

In marital life I have my share of pain and sacrifices (of course my husband too)  but in my earnest thinking that’s  part of marriage life in order for both parties to learn and grow.

 First post

I been here and there in blog world I hope this would be my last blog that I would create. For now, have a nice day!
